The Emmerdale villain found herself in hot water before leaving the village for good

What happened to Steph in Emmerdale?

Ex-con Steph Stokes arrived in Emmerdale in 2002.

She started her reign as the Dales’ Queen of Mean by doing the dirty with daughter Tricia’s boyfriends.

After trying to steal Rodney Blackstock’s priceless ornament and his heart, she jilted him when she realised he wasn’t the rich husband she needed.

Steph also pushed her own dad Alan down the stairs, but was eventually jailed for life her brother’s murder, even though she didn’t do it

Adam Forsythe killed him, but Steph helped conceal the body.

The last time she was seen on Emmerdale was in 2013, when she was allowed compassionate leave from prison to attend her dad Alan’s funeral.

The character remains in jail as she serves time for a murder she didn’t commit.

Who played Steph in Emmerdale?

Steph was played by actress and former model Lorraine Chase.

Born in South East London on July 16, 1951, she shot to fame in the 1970s when she appeared in the now famous Campari television adverts.

After switching from modelling to acting, Lorraine joined Emmerdale in 2002, before leaving four years later in 2006 – she then reprised the role briefly in 2013.

Speaking about her decision to leave Emmerdale, Lorraine said in a statement: “Four years ago Steve Frost, our then producer of Emmerdale, presented me with a complex character. I have enjoyed greatly the challenge he set.

“I hope Steph’s fans will agree, she was an unpredictable and intriguing crazy lady and I loved her but there is only so much a good girl can do!

“I have decided to leave Steph to her fate and re-unite with friends and family and get a life.

“Thank you Emmerdale and thank you all our lovely viewers.”

Series producer at the time, Kathleen Beedles added: “After four years of fantastic stories we are very sorry that Lorraine will be leaving, but are excited about the terrific storyline that is coming up for her.”

What other shows has Lorraine Chase been in?

Following her TV advertising success, Lorraine began appearing on Blankety Blank from 1979.
