Tony Clay reveals devastating reason Callum prepares to solve Keanu’s 𝕞urder case in EastEnders

Callum’s a man on a mission

Callum Highway (Tony Clay) is set to investigate the events surrounding Keanu Taylor’s (Danny Walters) murder in EastEnders next week – and there’s a heartbreaking reason as to why.

In upcoming scenes, Callum will arrange a call with husband Ben (Max Bowden), who is currently serving a six year stretch for fraud in the United States.

Unfortunately, he hasn’t informed Ben’s dad Phil (Steve McFadden) of the plans – leaving him saddened.

Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) takes note of Phil’s anguish and speaks with Callum, urging him to allow access to the video call.

However, the topic of conversation soon turns to the events surrounding Keanu’s Christmas Day murder.

Of course, as we all know, Keanu began to throttle Sharon but was stopped in his tracks when Linda (Kellie Bright) drove a meat thermometer through his back. Alongside four other of the Square’s women, they then concealed his body beneath the floor of the café.

As far as everyone else is aware, Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo) was responsible, with the ladies successfully framing him in April.

With Callum’s suspicions piqued during their conversation, he heads to No. 55 to speak with Phil and the two conspire to find out the truth.

As Sharon’s lips remain sealed over the matter, Phil reckons confronting Linda head on will lead to the answers they crave – but luckily she realises his game and gets nothing in return.

At the police station, Callum quizzes the detectives who worked on the case about Dean’s involvement and colleague Jack Branning (Scott Maslen), who is well aware of the events, manages to steer him away by assigning him a new lead.

Linda’s son Johnny (Charlie Suff), who is another local to be privy to the inside info, reckons Jack’s plan isn’t enough and suggests using Ben’s absence as a way to manipulate him…

…and it proves to work, according to actor Tony Clay: ‘I think it ordinarily would be out of character for Callum to be hellbent on catching Keanu’s killer given their history’ he told us.

‘I think he’s just latching on to anything that will keep him focused and pre-occupied so he doesn’t have to think about his true feelings relating to Ben’s absence.

‘It’s definitely a distraction from what’s going on in his personal life.’
