Sunrise’s Natalie Barr and Matt Shirvington to make Home And Away cameos

The breakfast TV presenters will appear on the long-running soap this week.

Two of Seven’s favourite presenters are swapping the newsdesk for the sandy shores of Summer Bay.

The special Home And Away cameo appearance is set to air on Channel 7 and 7plus this Wednesday at 7pm AEST.

Sunrise co-hosts Matt Shirvington and Natalie Barr will feature in a crossover storyline that involves a special Sunrise “live” cross, interviewing headstrong Hollywood actor Stevie Marlow (Catherine Van-Davies).

Since her arrival in Summer Bay, the A-lister has been making waves — bringing with her a troupe of loyal fans and unprecedented media interest in the seaside community.

After hiring ex-cop Cash (Nicholas Cartwright) as her personal bodyguard, Stevie selects Summer Bay as the perfect backdrop for her new romcom film.

Before long, the Bay is abuzz with the excitement of movie magic and the media circus that comes with it.

On the first day of production, the PR machine is in full swing as Stevie gears up for a “live” Sunrise cross from the set.

But when John Palmer (Shane Withington) gets a case of stage fright before his big morning TV debut, it’s up to none other than Summer Bay icon, Alf Stewart (Ray Meagher), to step up and escort Stevie to the interview.

The fun scene has Shirvo interviewing the famous starlet and crossing back to Nat who is “live” from Sunrise’s studio in Sydney.

“As a kid who grew up watching Home And Away, it was all a bit surreal to be in Summer Bay with Alf Stewart,” Shirvo told us after shooting the scenes late last year.

“What a fun experience. The entire cast and crew were so welcoming and generous with acting tips and advice for this novice.

“I think this will be one of those things my kids are never going to let me live down!”

Nat and Shirvo are not the first Sunrise stars to appear on the beloved soap.

In October 2021, weather presenter Sam Mac made his acting debut by playing himself as a VIP guest at a Summer Bay soiree.

At the time he shared a photo of himself, alongside Meagher, holding a shirt and hat with the slogan: “Sam Mac is … Summer Bae”.

“I’m not sure Alf is on board with my line of commemorative ‘Sam Mac-chandise’ … He threatened legal action,” Sam wrote.

Former Sunrise co-host David Koch also made a cameo in a 2007 blink-and-you-miss-it moment.

Seen mingling by the Summer Bay surf club bar, he held a stubby and delivered the line: “Yeah, sure.”
