In 1985, everyone was talking about The Goonies. The child-friendly adventure flick centering around a group of comically daring kids has gone on to be a staple in the ’80s movie genre—and a timeless classic as well! Whether you’ve watched the movie only once or over 100 times, there’s a good chance that the plot and cast have made an impression on you. Which raises the question: What is the cast of The Goonies up to now?
The beloved family movie has a cast with tons of names you may recognize today. Between Josh Brolin, Ke Huy Quan, and Keri Green, their brilliant talent has earned them spots in acclaimed Netflix shows, Academy Awards, and various movie roles you’ve probably seen! And on the flip side, some have even decided to avert from the Hollywood route entirely, taking on jobs in law and the commercial world. Either way, it’s currently 2023, which means it’s been a whopping 38 years since The Goonies first premiered. That number might be hard to wrap your head around, but it’s true! WARNER BROS.Then: Josh Brolin as Brand Walsh
No one sports the ’80s “look” quite like Josh Brolin in The Goonies: That red bandana and that cut-off tee! Josh played Brand Walsh, a spunky, sometimes arrogant older brother and leader figure for the younger Goonies.

Josh’s career hardly needs any explanation. Since The Goonies, the famed actor has scored many roles on both the big and small screen, including his infamous character Thanos in Marvel’s The Avengers franchise, and his new series Outer Range. Josh has four kids and is currently married to his wife, Kathryn Boyd Brolin.

If there was a leader of the Goonies squad, it would be Mikey! Sean took on this role early on in his child star career (with it only being his third one). His first two acting gigs were in smaller TV movies, including The Rules of Marriage.

Nowadays, Sean does… a lot! His filmography is quite the list, with over 150 credits in movies and shows, both acting and voice acting. His more notable works include The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Rudy, and Stranger Things.

Ke Huy Quan’s second acting role in his career was Data, the clever and inventive member of the Goonies crew! Just before that, he played Short Round in Indiana Jones: Temple of Doom (1984). Though, Ke’s career took a pause after The Goonies—but a strong comeback was to come.

Ke Huy Quan has the comeback story of all comeback stories. The actor hadn’t seen any major roles come his way after The Goonies, which eventually led him to hiatus from the scene all together, lasting decades. But that all changed in 2022 when Ke landed a major role in Everything Everywhere All At Once, winning him numerous awards, including the Oscar for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.

Oh, Chunk. The Goonies would have not been the same without Jeff Cohen’s hilarious (and really bad-at-lying) character. Chunk was Jeff’s first major acting role as a kid, which is funny when you realize that most of the movie’s iconic lines come from him!

Jeff’s career was short lived, retiring from movies just six years after The Goonies in 1991. Now an American attorney based out in Beverly Hills—Jeff regularly posts on Instagram, where you can see updates on his life and his constant support for fellow child star, Ke Huy Quan!

Corey was just 12 when he played Mouth in The Goonies, but that was far from his first role. In fact, he was kept pretty busy with over 29 acting credits before the ’80s classic!

After The Goonies, Corey went to star in over a hundred films and shows, including two more ’80s classics, The Lost Boys and Stand By Me.Still acting today, Corey is also a musician, releasing six albums from 1994 to 2022.

Kerri played Andy, the love interest to Brand. Kerri was relatively new to the acting scene before The Goonies, with the ’80s film being her biggest movie.

Martha played Stef—BFF of Andy and a gal who didn’t take anyone’s bologna. Believe it or not, The Goonies marked her first actual film.

Since The Goonies, Martha starred in many films—including The Mosquito Coast (1986) and Running on Empty (1988). But her true success and passion was found in TV, starring in the shows ER, The Real O’Neals, and many more. She even went on to win an Emmy for her guest role in The Good Wife.

Yes, Sloth was a real person! He was played by John Matuszak, a former NFL player who played for Kansas City Chiefs, Washington Commander, and the Oakland Raiders. He won two Super Bowls with the Raiders!

After The Goonies, John had a role in One Crazy Summer (1986). Unfortunately, it would be his last film. John passed away in 1989 due to medical complications.

Robert Davi is no stranger to the bad guy trope. So his role as as Jake Fratelli in The Goonies shouldn’t come as a shock.
