‘Petulant whiny child’ rage Emmerdale viewers as they slam writers over ‘unbearable’ character

ONE villager in the Dales has managed to push viewers to their wits’ end as his behaviour is branded ‘immature and irrational.’
Many Emmerdale watchers took to Reddit to share their complaints and soap bosses are being ferociously blamed.
Things are getting out of control at The Hide between Jai Sharma and Gabby Thomas on ITV.
After finding out that his biological father Amit Sharma was present when the beloved Rishi Sharma passed away, the businessman portrayed by Chris Bisson has shown the newcomer no mercy as he is convinced he may have had something to do with his adoptive father’s death.
Although Amit insists he has nothing to hide, Jai refuses to be anywhere near him, which has caused him to be at odds with The Hide’s Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham).
But while his pain and grief can be understood, multiple viewers of the Yorkshire-based program have taken to Reddit to put the character on blast as they have grown tired of all the conflict.
A viewers kicked off the conversation with a bold statement: “Jai is doing my head in!”
“He is such a a petulant whiny child. The poster child for the phrase cutting off your nose to spite your face”, they added.
“He treated Rishi terribly and now it’s the same behaviour although this time more justified but still!”
Many other Reddit users jumped in to agree, with one of them writing: “Totally agree!! He’s an idiot.”
“Thanks for saying this! Jai is a whiny snotty-nosed five year old!”, another brutally echoed.
One fan of the long-running program ended up throwing the blame on to actor Chris Bisson who has been portraying Jai Sharma since 2009.
“I’ve hated the character for years. He has no friends for a reason. He’s unbearable, in part because the actor lacks talent”, one soap watcher penned.
But despite the vehement comments and the fans pointing the finger to the former Shameless and Coronation Street actor, some fans were frustrated by the writing done by soap bosses.
“I blame the writers – it feels like the actor is just working with what he’s been given, which has been ‘act really immature and irrational and give everyone really angry looks'”, one viewer responded.
Another jumped in: “Again the writing am still annoyed that they took the sweet factory from him and been in boring stories.”
As mentioned above, Jai Sharma has been convinced that Amit (Anil Goutam) is to blame for the death of his adoptive father Rishi.
Off-screen, however, many theories circulated online about the tragic death, prior to Amit’s arrival in the eponymous village, with some viewers believing that serial killer Meena Jutla may be to blame.
But will Jai ever believe Amit?
Will his distress ever be understood?
Emmerdale airs weeknights from 7.30pm on ITV.
