Patrick finds out the truth about 𝕤ex attacker Pastor Clayton in EastEnders – but not from Yolande
Elaine has supported Yolande throughout her ordeal
Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker) learns the truth about vile Pastor Clayton (Howard Saddler) in upcoming EastEnders scenes – but it’s Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) that breaks the news.
Earlier this month, viewers of the BBC One soap watched in horror as Yolande (Angela Wynter) confided in Elaine about the sexual assault.
We also saw a series of flashbacks showing a number of Clayton’s victims speaking of similar incidents, that spanned 23 years.
Unfortunately, on each occasion, neither church officials or the police were unable to investigate further.
Elaine has supported Yolande throughout her ordeal
Such negligence has allowed him to commit further offences, including on Yolande when he cornered her in a store room at the community centre.
Since then she’s struggled to come clean to partner Patrick, who she was previously married to, and has found his loving advances to be triggering.
Things go from bad to worse this week when she’s too focussed on praying and doesn’t realise the kitchen is ablaze.
In upcoming scenes, Patrick’s concerns continue to grow when Sonia Jackson (Natalie Cassidy) accidentally reveals that Yolande missed a doctors appointment that he didn’t know about.
Meanwhile, at the launch of the charity food van, Denise Fox (Diane Parish) notices that she is absent.
Following her advice to speak with the Pastor about Yolande’s behaviour, Patrick is shocked when he implies that she could be unwell and later confronts her about it, leaving her furious.
Realising that she’ll never be able to bring herself to admit the truth, she contacts Elaine and asks her to do it for her.
Over the phone, she gently explains what happened and Patrick can’t process the news, and when he tries to speak with Yolande she locks herself away in the bathroom.
Fuelled with anger and hatred, he decides to charge towards Pastor Clayton, but she quickly stops him and the two discuss her ordeal and she agrees to report him to the church officials.
She tells Levi (Mark Akintimehin) about the sexual assault and he commends her bravery, promising to take action, but when Patrick hears his meeting with the church superiors isn’t until the following week, he decides to take the matter into his own hands.
At the community centre, he comes face to face with the abuser, and Yolande begins him to stop.
Will Patrick regret his actions?
