Matty Barton devastated by transphobic villager sabotaging his wedding to Amy Wyatt in Emmerdale

AMY Wyatt and Matty Barton are getting ready to tie the knot but one old-fashioned villager has something to say about it.
The Emmerdale favourite played by Ash Palmisciano faces close-minded behaviour around his trans identity. How will he react?
Wedding bells are due to ring in the eponymous ITV village as Amy Wyatt and Matty Barton are planning their wedding ceremony.
The loved-up pair became engaged last year, just as Amy (played by Natalie Ann Jamieson) was trying to connect with her sister Chloe Harris.
Despite Chloe’s exit in late December 2023, following the death of her adoptive father Damon Harris aka Harry, Amy will soon tie the knot with her beau.
But before they can walk down the aisle, the couple have to arrange a venue next week with the help of Claudette Anderson (Flo Wilson).
The elderly character has been standing on the side-lines, away from all the drama, particularly after the death of her husband Victor.
While she’s known to be pious, Claudette reveals another more conservative side of her personality – and it could be hard on Matty.
Coming up next week, Amy and Matty’s excitement over selecting the Village Hall as their wedding venue is slightly undercut by Claudette’s strained reaction to the information that Matty is trans.
Soon, Claudette’s beliefs cause her to take a misguided stance forbidding Amy and Matty from marrying in the Village Hall as it’s Church property.
Although Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough) is quick to propose finding a new venue, it’s clear Matty has been blindsided by Claudette’s prejudice.
Later on, in the Hide, Claudette’s hurtful stance on the Village Hall pushes Matty to confess that he just wants to experience his wedding day as himself rather than as other peoples’ trans role model.
Amy processes Matty’s desire for a scaled-down wedding and tries to hide a flicker of disappointment.
But will Claudette realise her behaviour is hurtful?
Could Claudette’s attitude convince Matty not to go through with the wedding?
Claudette may be getting on the wrong side of hot-tempered Moira Dingle, Matty’s mother, as her views could have a negative impact on the fan favourite’s big day.
Could a new feud be brewing?
