Mackenzie Boyd fights for his life after being brutš¯•’lly stš¯•’bbed in Emmerdale
Is this the end of the line for the heartthrob?
VIEWERS have been far from happy with Mackenzie Boyd and they’ve even asked for him to be axed.
Next week inĀ Emmerdale, the troublemaker is stabbed and gravely injured and the culprit is close to home.
Mackenzie Boyd (portrayed byĀ Lawrence Robb) has recently been involved in a car-stealing scheme withĀ fellow Dales troublemaker Aaron Dingle.
ITVĀ viewers were hoping to see the pair grow closer and eventually embark on a romantic relationship.
But while they’ve been rubbing elbows, Mack has neglected his wife Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) as her mental health was on a slippery slope.
Regular watchers of the Yorkshire-based program will remember that the Woolpack landlady has been overwhelmed by her guilty conscienceĀ after shooting criminal Damon HarrisĀ aka Harry.
Charity’s well-being has been a cause for concern in the eponymous village as many of her close relatives have come to the realisation she needs help.
Coming up next week, Charity is still struggling but Mack is relieved when she finally agrees to get some help.
But after approaching Harryā€™s grave, Charity starts to feel defiant and as she trashes it, in an attempt to take her power back.
Returning home and having had a cathartic day, Charityā€™s finally able to sleep.
But her relief is short lived when that night, Charityā€™s plagued by nightmares of Harry.
Tormented by her memories, Charity is spinning out of control, and continues to be triggered by loud noises.
Sheā€™s petrified when she starts having visions of the late Harry.
In other scenes, Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) begins to piece things together with Charityā€™s behaviour and senses something is seriously wrong.
But Charity feigns nonchalance when Mack arrives, concerned.
Once alone again, her panicked paranoia gets worse as she reaches for something to protect herself.
Then, Charity suffers from a night terror and ends up gravely injuring Mack in self-defence.
Will he survive?
Soap fans have been less than happy with Mackenzie in recent months and some viewers may argue that he couldĀ even be responsibleĀ for Charity’s struggle.
Charity was left with no other choice but to shoot Harry after the villainĀ captured Mackenzie and tortured him.
Harry had been revealed as theĀ father of Mack’s ex-fiancĆ©e, Chloe Harris.
The criminal had tried to force Mackenzie into letting Chloe get full custody of their son Reuben but he was also making him pay for his poor treatment of the young mother.
Mackenzie let Chloe die in a horrific car crash,Ā opting to save Charity, although they were separated at the time of the accident.
The love triangle began when Mack, after an explosive argument with Charity, had a one night stand with Chloe which led to Reuben’s birth.
Chloe left the DalesĀ with her baby son following Harry’s death and the thought of never seeing Reuben again has weighed heavy on Mackenzie.
This has led fans to theorise that his marriage with Charity could be coming to an end, particularly as Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick)Ā returned to EmmerdaleĀ in recent scenes.
But could the marriage end in Mackenzie’s death?
Emmerdale airs weeknights from 7.30pm on ITV.
