Liam’s world implodes as he discovers Ella’s pregnancy in Emmerdale
Everything has changed again
Ella Forster (Paula Lane) recently returned to Emmerdale and, following a car accident that landed her in hospital, told Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) that she’s pregnant.
Ella left the village a while back after it was revealed that she had killed her best friend when they were children and had spent the rest of her life moving from place to place, always moving on when someone inevitably found out her secret.
She’d hoped she would be able to put down roots in the Dales after falling for GP Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson). But he was unable to deal with the fact that she was a child killer, especially after losing his daughter Leanna (Mimi Slinger), who was murdered by Meena Jutla (Paige Sandhu).
But now Ella is back, determined to try and make a go of things. And she’s made a good start, having already found a place to stay at the salon and a job as a receptionist at the vets.
Everything has changed again
In a new spoiler video, Ella tells Mandy that she’s still trying to get her head round the news about her pregnancy, and isn’t ready to tell Liam.
Meanwhile, Liam has been trying to forget the pain of falling for Ella only to make such a horrific discovery about her past and has realised he still has feelings for Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter).
He and Chas started to become romantically involved before Ella’s initial arrival, but then Chas had treatment for breast cancer and pushed him away in the aftermath.
Though they almost rekindled things, Ella was by then on the scene and was determined to hang on to Liam, and it seemed he and Chas had missed their chance.
In upcoming episodes Ella starts to feel unwell in the street, and Liam is on hand to help – and is shocked to hear that she’s pregnant. He blurts out the news in the Woolpack and Chas is devastated.
As for Liam, he’s completely thrown by the idea that he’s going to be a father again – and that the mother of the baby is someone he can’t help thinking of as a child killer. Chas tries to support him as he struggles to take it all in.
When Ella visits him to talk about the situation he refuses to answer the door as he can’t even bear to face her.
It’s obviously not the reaction Ella was hoping for – and Liam’s world has been turned upside down.
