Leanne lures popular but vulnerable Coronation Street character to the cult

Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) turns her attention to Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) in Coronation Street next week as she tries to lure her into The Institute.

Leanne joined Rowan’s (Emryhs Cooper) cult earlier this year but has refused to see the organisation as anything other than a group passionate about positivity and self-help.

As a result of Rowan’s manipulation, Leanne’s relationships with Toyah (Georgia Taylor) and Nick (Ben Price) have been seriously impacted. After Rose’s funeral, Toyah discovered Rowan had paid for an upgraded package and not Leanne.

Completely horrified, she told her sister things won’t ever be the same between them. This, among other aspects, led Toyah into Nick’s arms. The in-laws kissed and then slept together, but agreed afterwards their affair couldn’t continue any further.

While this has been going on, Leanne has spent more and more time with Rowan. He has successfully convinced her that she’s made a great deal of progress within The Institute and next week, she takes on her new role by introducing other people to the group.

When Toyah finds Leanne, she is shocked to see her sister showing Amy Barlow a video to help relieve her stress. As the penny drops, Toyah realises that Amy is considering investing.

But will Leanne succeed in her plan in getting Amy onside?

Later in the week, any hopes of Toyah stopping Amy from being tempted into the corrupt business are destroyed due to her being distracted by worrying stomach pains.

When Nick arrives home, he finds Toyah in agony on the floor.

He takes her to hospital and as he and Leanne wait beside Toyah’s bedside, the doctor arrives with some shocking news.
