ITV Emmerdale’s Tom King’s downfall ‘revealed’ after ‘mistake’ in fake robbery
Emmerdale's Tom King may have made a crucial error in his plan to punish wife Belle Dingle
Emmerdale’s Tom King may have made a crucial error in his plan to punish wife Belle Dingle, as his vile abuse continues.
The ITV soap recently confirmed the couple would be at the centre of a storyline that would see Tom coercively control and manipulate his wife in horrifying scenes. Gradually, Tom has become more controlling over Belle and how she lives her life, from trying to isolate her from friends and loved ones to trying to get her to give up work.
He wants her to stay at home, and has also tried to pressure her into starting a family with him. Tom has been cruel to Belle at times where she’s stood up for herself, before gaslighting her and tricking her into thinking she’s the one in the wrong.
He’s managed to make her feel terrible for not agreeing with him, and whenever she’s lied to him or not done as he’s wanted, he’s found a way to punish her from claiming he can’t be around her, to his latest decision to stage a break-in.
Belle had gone for drinks with Suzy and others after work and was talked into staying out for longer. Belle was visibly panicked by this, having promised Tom she’d go straight home and be there by a certain time.
She justified this by telling Suzy that she and Tom were going through their wedding photos that evening, and she’d promised Tom she’d spend the evening with him. But as Belle was convinced to stay out, she had no idea about the app Tom had downloaded onto her phone, allowing him to track her every move.
He pretended he was heading to The Hide for a takeaway, when in fact he’d stalked her there via the app. When he walked in Belle’s face dropped as she realised he’d caught her out, when she’d claimed to be running late at work.
After making it clear he was upset, he dropped taunts including the fact their evening had been ruined and he’d have to eat alone. But in front of the others he acted like the doting and thoughtful husband, encouraging her to stay out with her friends and enjoy herself, and that their plans could wait.
As he returned home he took his revenge, destroying the house and smashing everything to pieces in a rage. As Belle found out what had happened he lied that there had been a break-in, and the mystery culprit had trashed the house.
In that moment Belle had no idea Tom had hidden her engagement ring and her wedding ring in his pocket, before claiming to her and Suzy they’d been stolen. He cruelly downplayed this too, stating the thieves hadn’t really taken anything leaving Belle upset.
Suzy was questioning the robbery though, saying it was odd that they trashed the place only to not steal much. So might Suzy get to the bottom of what really happened?
Tom then told Belle how it went with the police when he reported the robbery, with it clear to viewers he was lying. He told her they didn’t do much but would speak with him tomorrow, adding they’d said there had been several robberies recently in the area.
But Belle isn’t likely to stop pressing him about this so will she end up going to the police herself, and could this expose Tom is lying and hasn’t really reported it? Then there’s the issue of the rings – if Tom sells them or hides them in the hope they might get found by someone, could he be caught out if someone realises he had them all along?
