ITV Emmerdale star sacked for second time by fuming boss for gross misconduct error
One Emmerdale resident found themselves sacked when they made a gross misconduct error at work, with their boss left fuming by their mistake
An Emmerdale star has been sacked for gross misconduct.
Tonight on the ITV soap, Victoria Sugden found herself being sacked from her job. She had clearly been struggling after her split from Jacob Gallagher, and ended up smashing a glass whilst making a pizza in the kitchen. Whilst she had thought she had tidied it all up, Jai Sharma spotted a piece of glass under the pepperoni – which he had placed there – and on finding it, he sacked Victoria.
When she tried to protest, he said she needed to go but offered her two months wages and a reference for her next employer. He was warned to sack her from the job – or Pollard would tell him that he stole his brother’s inheritance.
It comes after Victoria made the tough decision to end her relationship with Jacob, following a stern warning from his mother Leyla that she was hindering his progress in life. Jacob had previously chosen not to pursue a study placement in Berlin to stay with Victoria.
Victoria felt compelled to break up with him and allow him to live his life. Her decision left him devastated, and he pleaded with her to rethink her choice. The past few months have been a rollercoaster for Jacob and Victoria, who kept their mutual attraction and subsequent romance under wraps for a considerable time due to fears of David’s reaction as he had previously dated her.
When David discovered their secret, he was taken aback and struggled to accept that his son was now involved with Victoria. Following Victoria and Jacob’s union, Jacob’s father, David Metcalfe – portrayed by Matthew Wolfenden – decided it was time for him to leave the village permanently. This coincided with Matthew’s own decision to depart from the ITV soap.
Joe-Warren Plant, who plays the role of Jacob, said: “I’m gutted! I’ve learnt everything from him. I had no previous acting experience, so everything came directly from Matthew. It’s sad, but we’ll keep in touch – he’s my best friend!”
Speaking of how Jacob might deal with David’s absence, he added: “It’s nice to see the change in conversations everything’s a bit more grown-up and they talk more on a mature level. They’ve always got on, David’s a great father, but Jacob’s enjoying spending more time with David as a single dad … It’s going to be strange not having him around!”
“I think he’ll have to spend more time with Leyla and get used to not having a father figure in his vicinity. Jacob loves David to pieces and there’s good energy between them. Jacob will struggle without him!”
