Home and Away star Nicholas Cartwright teases big change for Cash Newman
"There's a very big change coming."
Home and Away actor Nicholas Cartwright has teased a big change for his character Cash Newman this year.
The show’s Australian finale for 2023 ended on a big cliffhanger, where Cash’s girlfriend Eden was kidnapped, with scenes set tp pick up in January with Cash and sister Felicity searching for her alongside emergency services.
Though we don’t yet know the outcome of Eden’s fate, once the dust eventually settles on this current drama, it looks like Cash is going to embark down quite a different path to what we’ve seen before.
Speaking to Australian outlet Perth Now, Cartwright said: “Without giving anything anyway, (the current storyline) finds some sort of resolution, but it’s a massive journey getting there.
“Beyond that, there’s a lot going on for Cash. He is considering a career change. He has always been a police officer in the Bay and I guess he’s becoming a little bit disgruntled with that — there’s a very big change coming for Cash.”
Australian network 7 launched a ‘helpline’ fans could call for information and to hear Cash’s last call to Eden, as a bit of viral marketing, and over 74,000 calls were made. The fan reaction to the storyline has been a pleasant surprise for the soap star, with Cartwright adding: “It’s been great that people are getting into the phone number you can ring.
“Normally, with our finales, we end up with someone in hospital or something like that, But this one was really different and there was a really great twist.”
Australian fans won’t have to wait long to see how things pan out, as Home and Away is back tomorrow (January 8) in Australia.
