Having overheard Leah on the phone to her therapist, Justin is feeling dejected. He admits to Leah that he knows she’s having doubts. She tries to reassure him that she phoned the clinic because she needs to take care of herself.
In a follow up appointment, Leah’s doctor communicates concern and offers her an additional week’s stay in the clinic. When she tells Justin that she wants to go, he’s supportive and promises that he’ll be right there to marry her when she gets back.
Before Leah leaves, Justin tells her how proud he is of her. He puts her engagement ring back on her finger – a reminder that he’s with her even when he’s not.
Meanwhile, Irene senses that Dana is getting no joy from her secret crush. Dana relents and asks for advice – she’s finding it impossible to be around this ‘friend’ while her feelings for them are growing. Irene gives it to her straight, arguing that she should either be a friend to this person or take a chance on a relationship.
Later, Irene brags to Harper that she has figured out Xander is the one Dana has a crush on. She instantly knows she has put her foot in her mouth when it’s clear that Harper has no idea what she’s talking about.
Fresh off that news, Harper chats to Xander at Salt and steers the conversation to Dana and relationships. She gets the wrong idea based on Xander’s responses and rushes to her sister with unsolicited advice, suggesting that she has to tell Xander how she feels.
Dana visits Salt and tells Xander that she’d like to be more than friends, only for him to turn her down as it’s just not how he feels about her. Dana leaves mortified and Xander is left feeling awful for his friend.
