George Knight (Colin Salmon) was left devastated in recent EastEnders scenes when mum Gloria (Elizabeth Counsell) sadly passed away after a fatal heart attack.

In upcoming scenes, George realises that he must contact estranged son George Junior in order to share the news of Gloria’s death, but he is unable to get any further than his voicemail.

Later, dad Eddie (Christopher Fairbank) calls George from prison, following his guilty verdict, and asks George to meet him to discuss Gloria.

Their meeting soon descends into a vicious row, with wounding words flying between them which only send George deeper into despair.

On the way there, he is stopped by a concerned Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), who begs him not to fight in his current state.

However, George doesn’t listen, and when he takes to the ring, it isn’t long before he is knocked out.

The next day, George wakes up battered and bruised on Phil’s sofa, and when he heads home is family are horrified by the state of him.

Unwilling to tell them what’s really been going on, George insists that he was jumped by thugs.

Later, things get even worse when George tries to make headway with Eddie, but a knockback sends him spiralling even further.

Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) refuses to intervene when George storms off, but the same can’t be said for ex-wife Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins), who is deeply worried about his wellbeing.

Determined to find out where he is, Cindy collars Phil, and together they head to the underground boxing club, where they soon find George arguing with the bouncers.

Cindy manages to coax him back to the Boxing Den where the pair talk, but will she be able to get him to open up?
