Furious MP demands apology from EastEnders over ‘grotty’ episodes

An MP has slammed the portrayal of Milton Keynes

An MP has lashed out over the way Milton Keynes was depicted in a recent EastEnders episode.

During Monday’s episode Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) was visited by Whitney Dean and Zack Hudson (Shona McGarty and James Farrar) following her break up from long term partner Terry, and was thrilled to learn that Whitney was pregnant.

However, fans weren’t too happy with how a certain city was portrayed.

X user @julie_trudgill said: ‘It was ridiculous. They should have had a fictional place. Milton Keynes is local to me and has the most amazing infrastructure and facilities.’

Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, also said he was unhappy with the portrayal.

The Conservative MP said he would be contacting producers of the programme to suggest writing another storyline about ‘some of the brilliant parts of Milton Keynes’.

He added: ‘I am quite positive about Milton Keynes and I want them to show the good side as well.’

‘Like every city we got parts that aren’t as good as the others, but the characterisation is completely out of order.’

This comes after Milton Keynes claimed the prize of UK’s most underrated city.

Famed for being a new town – and not a whole lot else – Milton Keynes isn’t particularly beloved.

Even local residents are pretty scathing of the place. In one review, it was dubbed ‘a dismal London commuter belt town’ and ‘a symphony in the superficial and a concerto of concrete.’

In his stand-up show, Part Troll, Bill Bailey referred to the city as ‘Satan’s layby’.

During Monday’s intense episode Whitney was mowed down by a speeding car after chasing after distressed Britney Wainwright (Lola Campbell), but thankfully both her and her unborn baby were fine.

Despite the ordeal, Whitney’s main concern was Britney, especially after her mum Keeley was arrested for drug dealing, and Britney was still missing.
