Ex lovers to reconnect as EastEnders ‘confirms’ cheating scandal which is set to send shockwaves through the Square

One thing leads to another as Cindy and George reconnect

George Knight (Colin Salmon) will lean on ex Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) for support in EastEnders this week in the wake of Gloria’s (Elizabeth Counsell) tragic death, with the two sharing a kiss.

Gloria passed away in hospital last week after suffering a heart attack, struggling under the pressure of husband Eddie (Christopher Fairbanks) standing trial for a historic murder.

With the murder victim being George’s biological father Henry Kofi Asare, Gloria found her loyalties divided but, realising that she loved George more than anything else, she ultimately sided with her son, disowning racist husband Eddie.

The stress of the situation led to her suffering a heart attack, with doctors confirming that the damage was irreparable.

In emotional scenes, George told Gloria that he forgives her for keeping Eddie’s secret all those years, with the mother and son duo sharing a special moment before Gloria died peacefully, making it clear that she finally felt ‘free’.

George has struggled to process his grief, with Monday’s (April 15) edition of the BBC One soap seeing him attempt to get in touch with estranged son Junior to inform him of Gloria’s passing.

He also visited Eddie – who was found guilty of his crimes – in prison and, despite Gloria making it quite clear that she wanted to be cremated, Eddie refused to honour his wife’s wishes, reiterating that he’s her next of kin and therefore he will ensure she is buried next to him.

Pub landlord George sought solace in an underground fighting club, with Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) desperately trying to talk him out of taking part, but George refused to listen and, in tense scenes, he was knocked out.

The grief continues to consume him on Tuesday (April 16), with concerned Cindy getting involved as she attempts to get through to him.

George finally opens up, sharing his pain and suffering with ex-wife Cindy, who went by the moniker of Rose Knight when they were married, and one thing leads to another.

As the accompanying pictures show, George leans in and kisses Cindy. Cindy, as viewers know, has long sought a reunion with her ex, despite the fact that she’s currently seeing Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt).

But is this the beginning of an affair story?

Or will Cindy pull back, making George see that he’s not in the right frame of mind to take such a step? What’s more, will George come to regret his move, given that he’s engaged to Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe)?

Either way, it’s safe to say that fans can expect at least one of the four aforementioned parties to have their heart broken. This is Walford after all!
