Emotional exits for three major Emmerdale characters as they quit the village

The Dingle family suddenly feels smaller!

Sam Dingle (James Hooton), Chas (Lucy Pargeter) and her daughter Eve (Bella James) all left the village in Friday’s (February 2) episode of Emmerdale.

It’s been an emotional week for Chas, as she spent the start of it telling her Dingle family she has breast cancer.

On Wednesday, she then turned her attention to young daughter Eve. With help from Paddy (Dominic Brunt), Chas explained to Eve that she has cancer like her Granny Faith (Sally Dexter), but will have medicine so she’s able to get better.

With her treatment at the front of her mind, Chas then spoke to Paddy and Mandy (Lisa Riley) and asked if she could take Eve on holiday for a few weeks.

After Paddy and Mandy agreed, Chas then apprehensively approached Aaron (Danny Miller) and asked if he’d like to come along as well.

Aaron decided letting Chas make memories with young Eve would be better, but reassured his mum and said he’ll be in the village when she gets back.

Tonight, as Chas packed up her suitcases, over at the Dingle household, Sam was getting ready to leave for Scotland to see his dad Zak (Steve Halliwell).

Things were a little awkward between Sam and Lydia (Karen Blick) after a moment yesterday, which saw Lydia try and tell her husband she’s ready for intimacy again, only for a panicked Sam to make a mistake and say he doesn’t want to have sex.

Outside the pub, as Lydia helped Eve into the van, Mandy said her goodbye to Chas and pulled out an envelope of cash from her pocket. She told Chas the money is from Paddy, who wants her to have the best time.

Sam then hopped into the drivers seat, ready to drop Chas and Eve off at the train station before his trip to Aberdeen.

The departure of Sam has given Lydia some space to think about their relationship. When he returns, will the couple sit down and have an honest conversation about intimacy and what their marriage looks like now?
