Emmerdale teases unlikely friendship between feuding villagers

Ruby’s made an enemy of everyone in the village

If we were placing bets on two Emmerdale residents that were set to become pals, we certainly wouldn’t have expected Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly) and Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) to come out on top!

The two women have clashed from the second Ruby arrived in the village – well, that was to be expected, whose path hasn’t she crossed so far?

In a bizarre twist last year, Charity hopped into bed with Caleb Miligan (William Ash), who is in fact her distant cousin and former brother-in-law.

Have you got your head around that yet?

He’s also had a brief fling with niece-in-law Tracy Robinson (Amy Walsh), which was publicly exposed by Ruby at Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper) and Tom King’s (James Chase) wedding.

Talk about keeping it in the family!

Ruby then set about getting her hands on her estranged husband’s money, asking super soap bitch Kim Tate (Claire King) to help her fleece him.

Realising she couldn’t trust her, Kim dropped their plans and informed Caleb of her intentions, and rather stupidly they decided to stay together.

Her feud with Charity came to a head last month during a tense confrontation in The Woolpack, also clashing with returnee Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton).

‘Oi, barmaid!’ she shouted over at Kerry, who was quick to chirp in with her own catty response: ‘Did you hear something? Something that sounded like a strangled cat?’

She asked for a knife for her food, citing it as Charity’s weapon of choice after stabbing boyfriend Mack Boyd (Lawrence Robb) during a night terror.

Awks.

‘How’s your husband?’ asked Charity.

‘Funny to think he never mentioned your name when he was in my bed, or Laila’s (Roxy Shahidi), or Tracy’s.’

Not impressed, Ruby then branded them both ‘a pair of snidey bitches’ and in a low blow, called Charity unstable, on the edge and inbred.

However, in tonight’s (5th April) episode, the two seemed to make amends.

The huge change of character came after an explosive argument erupted in the pub and Ruby accidentally elbowed Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) in the chest, just weeks after her double mastectomy operation.

Noticing her swigging a drink outside of the café, Charity approached Ruby and asked her how she was.

With her relationship with Caleb in shreds after siding with his family, she admitted to her that he was the only serious relationship she’d ever had.

Despite her husband sleeping around, she always remained committed.

Charity saw a softer side to her, and despite Ruby referring to her as one of the many ‘slappers’ who he’d got with over the years, urged her to work on her relationship woes.

In a sad turn of events, when she headed home, Caleb was packing his bags for a business trip to Birmingham and told her to be gone by the time he got back.

Will they get their happily ever after?
