Emmerdale star Michelle Hardwick confirms unexpected love triangle for Vanessa upon return
Vanessa has walked straight into Rhona’s woes
Vanessa Woodfield arrived straight into some classic Emmerdale drama tonight following actress Michelle Hardwick’s maternity leave.
Viewers of the ITV soap have long-awaited Vanessa’s return to the eponymous village since she left for a new life and a dream job in Canada fourteen months ago, with son Johnny in tow.
Arriving on the doorstep of a remote cottage at the end of tonight’s (February 9th) episode, Vanessa had jetted back to the dales to support best friend Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) who is currently on the run from her family after she packed her belongings and disappeared with daughter Ivy, who is biologically but not legally her own.
Speaking of Vanessa’s anguish upon her comeback, Hardwick said: ‘she had no idea that she’d run off with the baby and essentially kidnap the child.’

‘So it’s a massive shock to Vanessa because first of all she’s thinking ‘what the heck are you [Rhona] doing?’’ she added.
‘There’s all blind panic going through her because she’s like ‘hang on, I’m here now, am I an accomplice? Am I gonna get done as well? What’s gonna happen to Johnny?’’
Now, with Vanessa back with a bang, fans have been left questioning what she can do to aid her troubled pal, and whether she will look to rekindle her relationship with Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough).
The veterinary surgeon decided to depart for pastures new alone after breaking up with Suzy, who last month shared a close moment with Mary Goskirk (Louise Jameson).
