Emmerdale spoilers – Terrifying Tom King is livid as he catches frightened Belle Dingle in a lie

People in Emmerdale keep telling Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) how lucky she is to be married to Tom King (James Chase) because he’s so lovely, kind and caring.

That may be how he comes across to most people – especially if they’re not paying too much attention – but Belle, and especially the viewers, have seen a completely different side to him.

There was always something a bit odd about Tom ever since he returned to the village and rekindled his romance with Belle. More recently, we’ve started to see his true colours really emerge.

He is selfish and needy, and most worryingly of all he’s controlling. He uses emotional blackmail to undermine Belle and get her to do what he wants. Some of the time she stands up to him, but most often he gets his own way and we’ve seen Belle in tears more than once over her husband’s cruel behaviour.

Belle is caught out

There was the time he kicked over the pottery pig that held Belle’s mum’s ashes and then let her walk home on her own afterwards because he didn’t want her messing his car up because she was covered in ashes.

On their wedding night Belle slept alone after Tom made a huge fuss about the way the Dingles had been a bit too Dingley at the wedding. After these incidents he gaslights her by either pretending nothing happened or making her think she was at fault.

And we’ve seen that Tom is tracking Belle’s movements with an app.

Because viewers have seen Tom getting violent with Belle previously, pushing her aggressively when she initially turned down his marriage proposal, all of this behaviour has made us very concerned for her safety.

In upcoming episodes Tom’s annoyed when he gets a text from his wife saying she’ll be late home from work.

He’s furious to see from his app that she’s in a moving car. He calls her to find out where she is and she says she’s still at Take A Vow, but Tom can see she’s now at the Hide.

He makes his way there in a foul mood and his temper doesn’t improve when he spots Belle apparently enjoying herself. When Belle sees him he does his usual thing of trying to pretend he’s fine while seething inwardly.

He can’t keep up this front for long and leaves Belle at the Hide. He heads back home where he’s finally able to release his pent-up anger – and in a fit of rage he completely trashes the house.

How will Belle react when she gets home?
