Emmerdale spoilers: Kim’s jealousy over Lydia knows no bounds – how far will she go to keep her?
For the record we know Kim is jealous, we just won’t tell her that to her face
Kim Tate (Claire King) has a lot on her mind currently in Emmerdale, the chief thing of course being her grandson Evan.
Dawn (Olivia Bromley) and Billy (Jay Kontzle)’s little boy has recently been diagnosed with leukaemia and has had to undergo chemotherapy. This is a hugely traumatic thing for the whole family as Dawn has been spending most of her time at the hospital with the baby.
With Billy dividing his time between the hospital and home, it’s been left to Kim and Will (Dean Andrews) to take up a lot of the childcare duties taking care of Evan’s siblings Lucas (Noah Ryan Aspinall) and Clemmie (Mabel Addison).
An added complication has been the arrival of Rose Jackson (Christine Tremarco). Rose is Will’s ex and Dawn’s mother, but she walked out on them when Dawn was only five years old and didn’t get in touch during the years since. She recently appeared unexpectedly and decided to hang around to try to get to know her daughter.

After being initially hostile to this idea, Dawn has started to let Rose into her life as she struggles with Evan’s treatment and has invited Rose to stay at Home Farm.
Clearly this isn’t an ideal situation for Kim and she’s tolerating Rose’s presence rather than being anything close to welcoming. In fact in upcoming episodes Rose is frustrated as Kim continues to exclude her from the family despite Rose’s best efforts to fit in.
Rose gets chatting to Lydia (Karen Blick), and she’s surprised that Lydia’s relationship with Kim goes well beyond that of employer and employee. In fact, as viewers know, Lydia is Kim’s closest friend in the village.
Despite their differences in status, the two women have a close bond and Lydia is one of the few people who can stand up to Kim and speak plainly to her. Lydia even organised Kim’s hen do.
And when Lydia was raped by evil Craig Reed (Ben Addis), the first person she felt able to confide in after the ordeal was Kim.
The friendship is something Kim really treasures, so when she sees that Rose and Kim are bonding she’s seething.
Having Rose around at all is bad enough, but she can’t bear the thought that her best mate is falling under Rose’s spell.
Kim has already tried to pay Rose to leave the family alone and warned her that she has other ways of dealing with unwanted people that can get ‘messy.’
How far will she go to ensure Rose doesn’t get any closer to Lydia?
