Emmerdale spoilers: Heartbreak as young child is cruelly bullied

Cain’s heartbroken

Last time we saw Kyle Winchester (Huey Quinn) in Emmerdale he had a lovely role in the wedding of his mum Amy Wyatt (Natalie Ann Jamieson) and his step-brother Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano) as he acted as best man to Matty.

Kyle even managed to do the traditional best man thing of pretending to have lost the rings.

Of course Kyle has been through some turbulent times in his young life, not least of which was spending some weeks in a secure children’s unit after he shot Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) and killed him.

Kyle picked up the gun when he saw his dad Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) fighting with Al in a barn and feared that his dad was about to be killed. Acting on instinct he fired the gun, with awful consequences.

Cain’s heartbroken

Something that traumatised Kyle during this time was not being able to see Cain, who was supposed to stay away from him for legal reasons because he was involved in the case.

When he was finally freed, there was more turmoil in store as Amy planned to take Kyle and move to Belfast to be away from what she saw as the toxic influence of his father. Even Cain was in agreement with this as he worried that he’d been a terrible role model for his son.

Kyle put his foot down over this plan, insisting that he wanted to stay with his brother Isaac (Bobby Dunsmoir). He also said he enjoyed the activities he did with Cain, like fixing cars and making dens out of hay.

Amy decided to respect her son’s wishes and let him stay with Cain, Moira Dingle (Natalie J. Robb) and Issac at Butlers.

We’ve seen that, under Moira’s influence, Cain has made huge strides to address his own aggressive tendencies and be a better role model for his younger children.

In an episode recently he even caved in when Isaac begged him to let him have an orphaned lamb that he’d seen. Against Moira’s advice, Cain and Isaac brought Minty the lamb back home in adorable scenes.

So everything at Butlers should be going smoothly and Kyle’s life should be carefree and fun – but sadly that’s not the case.

In echoes of what he went through after the shooting of Al, Kyle is being bullied again at school. It seems that people aren’t prepared to let the boy put his past behind him and are making his life difficult again.

When Cain hears about this he worries that it’ll continue to be a problem for Kyle as long as he’s surrounded by people who remember what happened to Al. His solution is to move to another area so Kyle can go to a school where his past isn’t known.

Could this mean that Cain, Moira and the family will soon be leaving the village?
