Emmerdale spoilers: Christmas story for Moira revealed as heartbreak looms

We know that Moira Barton (Natalie J. Robb)’s life is going to be turned upside down in Emmerdale soon – as we were told by none other than the show’s producer, Laura Shaw.

‘Moira is going to make a big confession to one of the villagers,’ she told Metro.co.uk.

‘It’s a secret from her past that she’s going to reveal. She does it in a way to try to help the person that she’s talking to, but how is that person going to react when they find out Moira’s deepest, darkest secret?’

The only other thing we know about this secret is that if the person Moira confides in says anything about it, ‘It could threaten Moira’s whole life.’

This has led to some fans theorising that the secret could turn out to be that Moira is Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb)’s mum, rather than his sister. This could tie into the secret being revealed because Moira wants to help somebody.

Rhona (Zoe Henry) is currently in turmoil after the birth of baby Ivy, born after ex-husband Gus (Alan McKenna) used the embryos that he and Rhona had had frozen when they were married and going through IVF.

Meanwhile Gail (Rachael Gill-Davis) and Ryan (James Moore) are struggling after reconnecting with their son Oscar (Harley Hamilton), who they gave up as a baby.

Could it be to one of these that Moira confides her secret?

Before Moira’s story gets seriously underway, she faces an upsetting Christmas. She had pictured a big family gathering with Chloe (Jessie Elland) and baby Reuben joining the rest of the family at the dinner table, but with Chloe currently on the run after Mackenzie dumped her that isn’t going to happen.

Moira tries her best to get as many of her loved ones as possible rounded up for Christmas, pressuring Matty (Ash Palmisciano) to get Amy (Natalie Ann Jamieson) to join them.

Mackenzie struggles with the idea of sitting around the Christmas dinner table while Reuben is still missing – especially in the company of Amy, who hid from him the fact that she new where Chloe was.

Poor Moira. It doesn’t look like she’s going to get the Christmas she was so much looking forward to. But what further heartbreak looms for her?
