Emmerdale spoilers: Charity and Mack hit with update on Harry’s 𝕕eath that changes everything

Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) ended 2023 in Emmerdale by committing a violent act – shooting gangster Damon ‘Harry’ Harris (Robert Beck) to death to save her husband, Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb).

Harry had kidnapped Mackenzie and held him in an abandoned factory, gagged and tied to a chair.

This was Harry’s response to his daughter Chloe Harris (Jessie Elland) asking him for help to get away from Mack – who was determined to see his baby son Reuben.

When Chloe realised how ruthless Harry could be, and that he planned to kill Mackenzie, she tried to set Mack free but he was quickly recaptured again.

'Emmerdale' TV Show, UK - May 2022 Emmerdale, is a British ITV long running soap opera, known as Emmerdale Farm until 1989, set in Emmerdale, a fictional village in the Yorkshire Dales. It was created by Kevin Laffan and was first broadcast on 16 October 1972. It was originally produced by ITV Yorkshire and is still filmed in their Leeds studios.

How will their future be impacted?

Meanwhile Chloe came to the village to see Amy Wyatt (Natalie Ann Jamieson), but Harry tracked her down and brought her back – an incident that was spotted by Charity and Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter), who of course recognised Harry from when he kidnapped her previously.

They followed Harry’s car to the factory and arrived in time to see the gangster apparently about to finish Mack off, pointing a gun at him.

Without hesitating, Charity rushed to grab the gun and there was a struggle between her and Harry. The gun went off and Harry slumped to the ground, dead.

The only other witness to this horror, Chloe, told Charity she wouldn’t tell the police what happened providing Mack said a final goodbye to Reuben and let her leave the village for good, with no future contact between her son and his father.

Charity and Mack agreed to this and Chloe left the village after Mack said one last goodbye to his little boy.

With Chloe and Reuben gone, Mack and Charity were left to carry on with their lives in the village, but it’s clear that this has come at a high price for them both.

Charity in particular has been suffering badly with the knowledge that she killed someone. Even knowing that Harry would most certainly have killed Mack if she hadn’t intervened, the burden of guilt is huge for her.

In upcoming episodes she and Mack get the news that Harry’s death has been ruled as accidental.

This comes as a huge relief to Mackenzie, and Charity does her best to share his feelings but in reality she’s struggling.

Will she reach out to anyone for help?
