Emmerdale spoilers: Broken Charity Dingle lashes out in rampage and destroys grave

Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) has been really struggling since accidentally killing Damon ‘Harry’ Harris (Robert Beck) on Christmas Day in Emmerdale.

Her PTSD symptoms have left her unable to sleep, and her anxiety has kept her constantly on edge, causing her to lash out at the people around her.

When Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) found out that she had shut the pub early after throwing everyone out in recent scenes, he expressed his concern at the way she had been repeatedly snapping at people, urging her to see a doctor.

Realising that she needed help, Charity headed to the surgery, but was let down when Ella Forster (Paula Lane) revealed that there weren’t any appointments left.

She did offer to try and get Charity in as an emergency, but when Ella asked what she needed the appointment for, Charity refused to disclose the information, instead calling Ella nosy.

She then turned her frustrations to Dr Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson), ranting that doctors were never there when people needed them.

After storming out of the surgery, Charity headed to Harry’s grave, where she begged him to leave her alone.

It was clear she was still trying to come to terms with what had happened, as she stated that she had had to shoot him or it would have been her and Mack who ended up dead.

Just before she left, Charity asked herself what she had been doing, before announcing to Harry’s grave that nothing would ever beat her, not even ‘scum’ like him, before kicking over his grave marker for good measure.

Later, when Mack returned home, Charity revealed that she had finally managed to get some sleep.

Mack suggested it was ‘shouting the odds at the surgery’ that had tired her out, having heard about the incident from Liam.

Charity promised that she would apologise, but refused to book another appointment, insisting that she must have sorted herself out given that she had been able to nap for so long.

However, it soon became clear that Charity wasn’t any better when she later suffered another nightmare, reliving the moment that she was forced to shoot Harry, before waking up in terror.

Will Charity ever open up about what’s really going on?
