Emmerdale fans rumble ‘real reason’ soap bosses gave Chas Dingle harrowing cancer storyline
The diagnosis comes about after Chas - played by Lucy Pargeter - enjoys a fun fling with the village doctor, Liam Cavanagh
EMMERDALE fans have rumbled the ‘real reason’ why bosses have given Chas Dingle a harrowing cancer storyline.
The long-running ITV soap announced on Monday how the divisive character will be dealt a devastating blow.
In upcoming scenes fans will watch as Chas, who is played by Lucy Pargeter, will discover a lump.
The diagnosis comes about after Chas – played by Lucy Pargeter – enjoys a fun fling with the village doctor, Liam Cavanagh.
However, the mood is shattered when the GP tells her he has felt a lump in her breast.
But fans are now convinced the character will receive the shock news to get viewers back on side.
Chas has been an unfavourable figure in the Dales, having had an affair with the late Al which left Paddy Kirk devastated.
She’s also been blamed for causing the death of Liv during Emmerdale’s explosive Storm Week.
Taking to social media, one fan said: “For me,Chas is an awful character, she never admits the damage she has done nor has she asked for forgiveness for her actions. I think they give her this story to redeem her,the best thing would have been a long holidays off screen.”
A second wrote: “It’ll be hard to find interest when viewers don’t rate the character… but I guess now we know why they brought Aaron back…”
“Feels like you’re just trying to manipulate us into feeling sorry for Chas. The audience needed a break from her,” said a third.
While a fourth commented: “The transparency is laughable, Its nothing to do with bringing a focus to a serious issue, it’s about manipulating the viewers into being back on side with a roundly disliked character, nothing more nothing less.”
Emmerdale airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
