Emmerdale confirms who was driving the car that đť•śilled Heath as teen comes clean
It was a devastating day
Angelica King (Rebecca Bakes) has confirmed to mum Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) that she was driving the car that killed Heath (Sebastian Dowling) when it crashed in Emmerdale – not Cathy Hope (Gabrielle Dowling).
At the start of the year, Cathy, Angelica and Heath stole a car with the intention of getting into Hotten for a party.
On the way, a comment was made about Cathy driving too slowly and moments later, the trio had crashed, with Heath dying as a result of the injuries he had sustained.
In the aftermath, when Cathy was questioned by the police, she told them Angelica was driving – but she didn’t back up the claim.
It was a devastating day
Ever since then, Cathy has desperately tried to get Angelica to come clean and for Bob (Tony Audenshaw) to believe her.
In Thursday’s (January 18) episode of the ITV soap, it was the day of Heath’s funeral.
As the village residents got ready, Wendy (Susan Cookson) was shocked to discover Bob hadn’t got changed. He broke down and said he wasn’t sure if he could bring himself to attend, but it was looking at a pack of guitar strings and being reminded of his son that made Bob change his mind.
Outside, as Cathy and Eric (Chris Chittell) walked down Main Street the likes of April (Amelia Flanagan), Liam (Jonny McPherson), Marlon (Mark Charnock) and Wendy all followed behind – but not Bob.
Fortunately, just as they stopped outside the church, Bob rushed to Cathy and hugged her, ready to face the emotional goodbye together.
After the service, Heath’s family gathered outside to scatter dirt onto the coffin, which had been lowered into the ground.
Left alone, Bob and Cathy had a moment to talk. They broke down and Bob apologised for everything he had said to his daughter, with Cathy relieved and under the impression he finally believed she wasn’t driving the car.
Sadly, when Bob hugged Cathy, he made a comment about how he’ll be there for her whatever comes her way next. This broke Cathy’s heart, a reminder they hadn’t reunited at all – Bob still didn’t believe her.
Watching this conversation unfold was Angelica. She was witnessing the funeral move through Main Street from her bedroom and clearly struggling with her emotions.
As the episode drew to a close, Nicola found her daughter by Heath’s grave.
Nicola thought that Angelica was just finding the day overwhelming, but the young girl then broke down and confirmed she was driving the car after all.
Nicola was completely stunned, but how will the family move forward after this revelation?
