EastEnders star confirms exit with ‘overdue’ goodbye
Elizabeth Green has said goodbye to her character Jade
EastEnders star Elizabeth Green has confirmed her exit from the BBC with an ‘overdue post’, after bowing out as Jade Masood following a dramatic storyline.
Jade returned to our screens in December 2023 when she came to visit dad Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo), who had moved back to Albert Square to be closer to her.
Following her visit, Jade underwent a lung transplant, and soon headed back to Walford when mum Shabnam became too overbearing during her recovery.
However, when Shabnam revealed that she planned on moving to Pakistan to be closer to Zainab Masood, Jade agreed to go with her – news that Dean did not take well.

In a bid to keep Jade close to him, Dean began to tamper with her medication, and even went so far as to disconnect her oxygen just before she stood up to make a speech at her charity fundraising event.
Thankfully, Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) soon caught on to what he was up to, and though Jade was unsure who to believe at first, she finally got Dean to admit it while visiting him in prison, following his arrest for Keanu Taylor’s murder.
Shortly afterwards, Jade waved Walford goodbye as she left Albert Square to move to Pakistan with Shabnam.
Now, after several weeks, actress Elizabeth Green has taken to Instagram to share a number of behind the scenes pictures from her time on the show, including with her fellow co-stars, as part of a goodbye post.
‘I am so SO grateful to have had this job and for all the brilliant people I got to meet and work with on EE,’ she wrote beside the carousel of photos.
‘I’m left with the HUGEST respect for everyone who works on and off screen on continuing dramas. The entire team behind the show are the most warm, funny, generous and hard working people – thank you for taking me into your family!’
She went on to talk about Jade’s cystic fibrosis, and how it was a ‘privilege’ to be able to tell the story, pointing out that the condition is ‘underrepresented in the media’.
She also thanked Abigail Holmes, who lives with cystic fibrosis and spoke to Elizabeth to help with her portrayal of the character.
‘I really hope that Jade’s story has helped shed a little light on the condition in mainstream media and starts more conversations about CF!’ Elizabeth added.
Co-star Jaden Ladega, who plays Denzel Danes, rushed to the comments to share his support, writing: ‘Miss you lots Lizzie was a pleasure doing business with you go out there and smash it and we’ll see you soon.’
Fans were also quick to comment, with many eager for Jade to return in the future.
‘Great acting and an amazing storyline, but it’s definitely a great send-off! Hope to see you back on screen as time goes on,’ one fan wrote.
Whether or not Jade will return in the future remains to be seen, but she will certainly be remembered fondly by fans.
