EastEnders spoilers: Unsettling scene hints at darker side to Pastor Clayton after Yolande Trueman fights back

Pastor Clayton promised to put the rumours to bed

Recent unsettling EastEnders scenes have hinted at a darker side to Pastor Clayton (Howard Saddler), and it’s left us worried for Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter).

Yolande recently learnt from a woman in the prayer group that there were rumours circulating about her and Pastor Clayton, much to her horror.

In more recent scenes in the BBC One soap, the woman made it clear that she believed the rumours when she chose to read out a bible verse about adultery, before directly turning on Yolande, labelling her a ‘wanton jezebel’. Ouch.

Yolande wasn’t going to take the slander lying down, and had soon lashed out in revenge, smacking the woman right across the face, shocking Pastor Clayton.

When she revealed that the other women in the group had been gossiping about the two of them ‘crossing a line’, despite Pastor Clayton being married, he brushed it off, assuring her there was nothing to worry about.

He pointed out that they hadn’t done anything wrong and promised to warn the women to stop gossiping.

It was then that he realised he had to dash, but not before he took Yolande’s hand in an intimate manner and recited a bible verse to her, to emphasise his point.

Does Pastor Clayton see Yolande as more than a friend?

The women in the church group are not the only ones to have noticed their close relationship, with Denzel Danes (Jaden Ladega) having previously suspected Yolande of having an affair with the Pastor.

However, it seems as though Yolande is happy with things the way they are, so would she really give it all up for the Pastor?
