EastEnders spoilers: Sonia Fowler confesses heart-wrenching struggle and more agony follows
Sonia is facing a heart-wrenching struggle
Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) has been undergoing IVF treatment in the hopes of being able to have a baby with partner Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) in EastEnders.
Unfortunately, the treatment has so far been unsuccessful, leaving poor Sonia devastated.
In upcoming scenes, Sonia heads to Milton Keynes to visit Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer), Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) and Zack Hudson (James Farrar).
The trip turns out to be far more dramatic than Sonia could have anticipated when pregnant Whitney is hit by a car, leaving her family terrified.

Thankfully, Whitney and the baby are okay, and they soon head back to Bianca’s, where Whitney receives news that Keeley – the mother of Britney, who Whitney has taken under her wing – has been arrested.
While Whitney sets out to find missing Britney, Sonia and Bianca have a heart to heart, where Sonia finally opens up about her struggle to conceive.
After arriving back in Albert Square, Sonia agrees to babysit Charli Slater, and it soon becomes apparent just how desperately she is yearning for a baby of her own.
Noticing how down she is, Reiss tries his best to cheer Sonia up, though his over-the-top gestures soon begin to grate on her.
In the café later on, Sonia finally opens up to Reiss about her true feelings surrounding their fertility struggles.
She confesses to Reiss that Whitney is pregnant, and reveals that she feels guilty for being jealous of her.
In a bid to help her make sense of her feelings, Reiss suggests that Sonia start journaling her thoughts. Will it help?
It isn’t just Sonia who feels guilty, as Whitney Dean actress Shona McGarty revealed.
‘Whitney doesn’t want Sonia to know about the pregnancy because when Sonia unfortunately had a negative pregnancy test at the start of the year, Whitney was pregnant at that time and didn’t tell her.
‘Sonia is so desperate for a baby and Whitney feels incredibly guilty about getting pregnant naturally whilst Sonia is going through IVF. She just wants Sonia to be happy and she feels really guilty.’
