EastEnders spoilers: Major couple splits for good after 3 years
There’s no way back for Kat and Phil
Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) has confirmed to Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) that they are not getting back together in EastEnders.
The couple split up recently after Kat learnt Phil had slept with Emma (Patsy Kensit). She then searched for a rebound and found Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry), but dumped him in tonight’s (February 8) episode, certain they had absolutely nothing in common and that she wanted to try again with Phil.
While Kat built up the courage to go and talk to Phil, he was facing a problem in the form of Karen Taylor (Lorraine Stanley). She was back in Walford in search of Keanu (Danny Walters) and believed Phil and Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) had something to do with him going missing after he found out Albie wasn’t his child.
Kat paid a visit to the Mitchell household and told Phil that she wanted to try again. The former couple knew they worked well together as a team, and Kat always loved how good Phil was with her children.

But despite their connection and Phil’s relationship with her sons, Kat couldn’t shake her paranoia and jealousy surrounding Sharon.
Before Karen’s departure, she confronted Phil and Kat and confirmed she would be leaving, but commented on the fact she believed Phil and Sharon were working together somehow.
Karen argued no matter who Sharon and Phil’s new partners are, they will always have strong feelings for each other. To stick the knife in, she then brutally told Kat that she shouldn’t be Phil’s ‘sloppy seconds’.
This was enough for Kat to realise something she was initially reluctant to admit. Outside, after Phil commented on Kat checking his phone, she realised she had been reduced to a paranoid woman who grows jealous whenever another woman is mentioned – this wasn’t the real Kat Slater at all.
With that, she told Phil that the trust between them had been broken and because of that, they can no longer be together.
A tearful Kat – who got with Phil back in 2021 and married him last year – then walked away from him and the Mitchell home.
But what will her future look like now?
