EastEnders spoilers: Cindy Beale reels after devastating update about estranged daughter Cindy Jnr

Cindy’s plan to reunite with Cindy Jnr didn’t go as well as she’d hoped

Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) recently left Albert Square with the intention of finally meeting estranged daughter Cindy Jnr in EastEnders.

For almost 25 years, Cindy Jnr had been led to believe that her mum had died while giving birth to her in prison – and she struggled a lot with the guilt she felt because of that.

However, last year it was revealed that Cindy was actually still alive, having faked her death to go into witness protection – though Cindy Jnr remained unaware of this.

Having begun to build bridges with her other children, Cindy was persuaded by son Peter Beale (Thomas Law) to reach out to Cindy Jnr to try and form a relationship.

With Cindy Jnr out travelling in Europe, Peter agreed to accompany Cindy as they attempted to track her down.

However, their trip was cut short when Cindy received a voice mail from ex-husband George Knight (Colin Salmon), telling her that he wished she was back in Albert Square.

Of course, when George calls, Cindy comes running, so it took no time at all for her to book a flight and head back over to the UK.

After advising George over his current difficult situation, Cindy was left hurt when he asked her not to tell anyone that they had spoken, pointing out that it would upset his fiancé Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) if she found out.

Cindy asked if that was because of their shared history, but George admitted that it was actually because she had a lot going on in her life.

Cindy was instantly offended, pointing out that she had cut things short with Cindy Jnr to come home to him because he seemed so upset, before storming off.

Back at No.45, Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) was surprised to see Peter back so soon, but was confused as to why Cindy wasn’t with him.

Peter explained how he was also in the dark, revealing that one minute Cindy was happy to give her daughter space and the next she was booking a flight back to London.

Later, George tracked Cindy down to apologise, revealing that he had been too wrapped up in his own problems earlier to ask her how things had gone with Cindy Jnr.

It was then that Cindy sadly revealed that she had only spoken to her estranged daughter long enough for her to tell her she wished she really was dead, but that she couldn’t blame her as she was a terrible mother.

George was quick to point out that Anna and Gina (Molly Rainford and Francesca Henry) would disagree, and that Cindy Jnr would come round soon enough.

Will Cindy ever be able to have a relationship with Cindy Jnr?
