EastEnders’ Nadine Keller oversteps the mark with Lexi Pearce – with disastrous consequences

Poor Lexi was devastated

Nadine Keller (Jazzy Phoenix) has made things a lot worse for Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) by telling young Lexi (Isabella Brown) in EastEnders that she is pregnant with his baby.

We first met Nadine shortly after Lola Pearce’s (Danielle Harold) death. As Jay struggled with his grief, he connected with Nadine due to how much she looked like Lola.

We haven’t seen Nadine for a few months in Walford. However, she made a return recently with some shocking news for Jay – she’s pregnant.

Tonight’s episode (April 17) of the BBC One soap focused on Jay trying to reach a decision on what to do next. He spoke to Nadine at the car lot and was obviously finding it difficult to process the news.

In the pub, Gina (Francesca Henry) pointed out to Jay that the baby isn’t going anywhere, so he needs to think about telling his family.

Incredibly apprehensive, Jay asked Honey (Emma Barton), Billy (Perry Fenwick) and Callum (Tony Clay) to pop by the flat for a meeting.

While he was doing this, Nadine had spotted Lexi in the Minute Mart.

Back at the flat, Jay wasn’t able to tell his family his news due to the arrival of Lexi, who burst in and asked Jay if he ‘got that prostitute pregnant’.

Due to the fact tonight’s episode mainly focused on Yolande (Angela Wynter) being sexually assaulted by Pastor Clayton (Howard Saddler), the aftermath of Nadine overstepping the mark with Lexi, and Jay’s family discovering the pregnancy, will have to come at a later date.

But what will they have to say?

‘I think he steps up to the responsibility that he doesn’t want,’ actor Jamie Borthwick explained.

‘We all know Jay – he’s a good man, as Perry Fenwick calls him. So, he does certainly live up to responsibility.

‘I think he’s sucked into this. He buys into this. He has absolutely no reason to not believe, so he’s all for it, and he steps up when called upon because he is a good man.’
