Coronation Street legend set to quit after being branded a ‘selfish cow’
Abi had some harsh words for Bethany
Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) has been left wondering whether to quit her new journalism gig in Coronation Street after learning she is employed by killer Corey Brent’s dad Stefan (Paul Opacic).
Ever since her return to the ITV soap at the start of this year, Bethany has continued on her plight to make it big in the journalism world.
Ruthless, she wouldn’t stop until she got her perfect scoop and even turned her back on boyfriend Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) by writing about his ex-girlfriend Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan)’s ordeal with her stalker.
It seems that she’s learnt somewhat of a lesson though, as recent scenes have shown her distaste at reporting on a story after finally securing gainful employment.
Abi had some harsh words for Bethany
Her first assignment? To write a piece for Seriously? magazine in support of the documentary made about Seb Franklin’s killer Corey Brent, who has had some success in the footballing world behind bars.
She approached Abi straight away, and told her what the publication had requested – and she was horrified.
Speaking with husband Kevin (Michael Le Vell), Abi told him that she’d done some digging and worked out the owner of the magazine company is none other than Stefan, Corey’s dad, and that he’s also on the board of directors for the production company that made the TV show.
Convinced Stefan is behind the deepfake porn videos of her that surfaced after she tried to stop it being broadcast, Abi reported him to the police.
In tonight’s (19th June) episode, she charged down to the station and spotted him being brought in for questioning, but before long, news reached Webster’s Autocentre that he had been released as the police had no grounds to arrest him.
Refusing to settle, she stormed to Stefan’s office and told him she’ll find proof, and back at the Rovers she launched an attack on Bethany, branding her a ‘selfish cow’ for taking on the role.
Bethany was riddled with guilt and headed to the garage to tell her she was planning on quitting – but there was a catch. She would stay in the job if it meant she could get some inside information on Brent, but Abi didn’t want to hear it.
The proposition piqued Kevin’s interest, and later he headed to No. 7 Redbank to ask if he could have her work pass to gain access to his office.
What has Kevin got planned?
