Cindy Beale destroyed by a devastating 𝕕eath in EastEnders

Cindy reflected on a tragic anniversary

Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) was left devastated as she recalled the heart breaking death that turned her life upside down in recent EastEnders scenes.

Ten years ago this week, Lucy Beale was murdered, and a year-long hunt for the killer ensued.

While her death tore Albert Square apart and had neighbours turning on each other left and right, over in Spain it had devastating consequences for Cindy, who was living with her new family under witness protection under the name of Rose Knight.

When Cindy learned about Lucy’s death, she headed back to Walford, where she was intercepted by her handler, Mary, who insisted that it was too dangerous for her to come out of hiding.

She also tragically revealed that by returning to London, Cindy had endangered her new family, meaning that she couldn’t return to them.

This left husband George (Colin Salmon) and daughters Anna and Gina (Molly Rainford and Francesca Henry) questioning for years why she had suddenly upped and left, until years later they were finally reunited.

In recent scenes, Cindy comforted George as he struggled to cope in the aftermath of Gloria Knight’s (Elizabeth Counsell) death, and soon the topic of conversation turned to Lucy’s tragic anniversary.

As George reflected on how son George Junior refused to contact him, Cindy pointed out how he gets his stubbornness from George, before revealing that Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) always tells her how alike she and Lucy were.

It was then that George pointed out that it had been ten years since ‘the week that changed everything’, and they fell into a solemn silence.

Eventually, it became clear that, even after all that time, their feelings for each other hadn’t changed all that much, and they were soon sharing a passionate kiss.

Could this tragic anniversary be what finally brings them together again?
