Beth Cordingly reveals romance with Emmerdale legend: ‘I am very in love’

Emmerdale’s Beth Cordingly has revealed that she is ‘very in love’ with partner Ian Kelsey, who previously played Dave Glover on the ITV soap.

The actress, who joined the show as Ruby Fox-Miligan this year, has been in a relationship with Ian for three years and said that the former soap star was ‘really supportive’ when she landed the role.

‘There is that thing as an actor where you are always taken away from home,’ she said. ‘But he totally gets it. He knows a lot of the crew and cast and so it’s lovely to be able to share what I’ve been up to, knowing he understands.

‘That’s important when you are away and he is always keen to find out how filming has gone each day.

‘We are both very supportive of each other’s careers which is important when it is such a competitive industry.’

Beth and Ian, who have known each other for over two decades, added to The Mirror: ‘I am very in love with Ian and very happy.’

Beth made her Emmerdale debut at the start of 2024, with Ruby being introduced as the mystery woman who Caleb, her ex-husband, was caught with during a passionate moment with her.

Soap superfans may recognise Beth from her role as Debbie, a cellmate of Shirley Carter’s (Linda Henry) in EastEnders back in 2017.

Her biggest role, however, is undoubtedly as PC Kerry Young in The Bill.

Kerry’s time at Sun Hill Station ended in tragedy in 2004, when she was shot outside the station.

Ian, meanwhile, portrayed Dave Glover, a former flame of Kim Tate’s, in Emmerdale, which is largely regarded as one of soap’s most well-known affairs.

The story ended in tragedy, however, when Dave met his demise in 1997 after three years on the show, with the character perishing in a fire.

Back in March of 2024, Beth Cordingly spoke about the advice partner Ian gave her before she arrived in the Dales.

‘He told me not to bump into the furniture, which I do regularly!’

In recent episodes of the ITV soap, Beth’s character Ruby has continued to cause a great deal of trouble for the Dingle family.

After expressing her hatred towards Caleb’s biological relatives, Ruby’s emotions got the better of her while in the pub. Caleb got up and encouraged her to leave, but Ruby moved her arm in such a way she accidentally hit Chas (Lucy Pargeter) in the chest, just weeks on from her double mastectomy.

Ruby is also the mother of Nicky (Lewis Cope), who is in a relationship with Suni Sharma (Brahmdeo Shannon Ramana), who works as a chef at HOP.
