Besotted Alfie Moon determined to win Kat Slater back amid ‘fight to stay alive’ in EastEnders
Alfie is desperate to win Kat back
Everyone knows that Kat Slater and Alfie Moon (Jessie Wallace and Shane Richie) are soulmates, but unfortunately its taking them much longer to realise that than everyone else around them in EastEnders.
During a meal at Walford East with the kids, the chemistry between them was scorching – something that son Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall) was quick to pick up on.
After sending twins Bert and Ernie off with Kat, Tommy pulled Alfie in for a serious chat about the future.
He pointed out that it was obvious that they still loved each other, and used Alfie’s own words to prove it.

Tommy reminded him of when he’d been upset about leaving Kat’s Mother’s Day card at school, and how Alfie had encouraged him to wake her up with a cup of tea in the morning, as this would show her that he’d been thinking about her.
He went on to point out how, since Kat and the boys had moved in with him, following her break up with Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), Alfie had made her a cup of tea every morning, and she had made him one every night.
When Tommy said that it was clear they both still loved each other, Alfie argued that it wasn’t as simple as that, though Tommy revealed that Kat is happier than she has been for months.
Kat has had a rough time of it since finding out about Phil’s one night stand with Emma Harding (Patsy Kensit).
Her rebound relationship with evil Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) also ended in disaster when he showed his true colours, and left her without a home, until Alfie stepped in.
As Alfie tried to brush off Tommy’s sentiments with a joke, the young lad left him with some words of wisdom that he couldn’t ignore.
‘What’s the point of fighting to stay alive if all you’re going to do is always watch her go?’
Viewers will know that Alfie has been battling prostate cancer, and has undergone surgery, as well as radiotherapy and hormone therapy treatment.
With Tommy’s words ringing true, Alfie decided it was finally time to admit his true feelings, as he pulled Kat aside and asked her for a quiet word, revealing he had something important to tell her.
Unfortunately, before he could get it out, they were disturbed by Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) desperately trying to secure a cab to take new dad Zack Hudson (James Farrar) to the hospital to meet his newborn.
Though Kat asked Alfie to tell her whatever it was he wanted to say, Alfie lost his nerve and let the moment pass him by.
Will he ever find the right moment to tell Kat how he really feels?
