EastEnders airs a massive twist for George Knight next week that will turn his life upside down.
The character finds something out about his adoptive father Eddie Knight that leaves him reeling. Not only that but he finally learns the truth about his childhood and what happened, after becoming separated from his biological parents.
Just weeks ago George learned the truth about his adoption as a child and that there was more to what he had been told. But with it clear his adoptive parents were hiding more from him, it seems the truth finally comes out next week.
After their last awkward meeting, George is preparing to see his father again to celebrate an award he’s received. As George attends with his kids, he’s surprised by how nice Eddie is being and how proud he seems, given George has often questioned his dad’s behaviour around him, especially with him making racist comments as shown in recent episodes.
So the treatment Eddie shows him next week makes him wonder if Eddie loved him after all, after his doubts. But a discovery let slip by one of Eddie’s mates leaves George reeling, and it soon leads to a devastating realisation.
Eddie and wife Gloria recently told George that he was adopted via a process known as farming which saw children advertised for money for parents looking to give kids a home. The news led to George making a discovery about his heritage which caused him to question the identity his parents impressed upon him since his adoption.
George had questioned why his biological dad, who Gloria had said loved George dearly, never came back for him given the scheme mentioned by Gloria and Eddie was meant to be a fostering arrangement. His adoptive parents claimed the money stopped coming their way and his dad never came back for him, suggesting there would be a reason he could not return.
Next week, the truth about his childhood finally comes to light, as well as Eddie’s racism and his real feelings towards his son. But that’s not all, as George finds out his dad is facing a murder trial and is using him as a character witness.
George is informed that Eddie is facing trial for a racially motivated murder and needs George to be his character witness to face the jury. George confronts Eddie demanding answers about the tragedy and his past, having already looked into the case himself.
The pair have a painful confrontation as secrets and lies are exposed, and George finally unlocks what happened, as well as what went on in his childhood. After, Gloria begs her son to testify for Eddie, but will he go through with it?
