ITV Emmerdale viewers slam ‘hypocrite’ Gus after new Rhona baby bombshell

Emmerdale fans were left furious on Tuesday night amid a new Rhona Goskirk baby bombshell.

Soap watchers will recall that Gus showed up in the village earlier this year, asking ex Rhona for her help. He revealed to her that he was in a new relationship and wanted to have kids with his new partner, Lucy, but they weren’t able to. He said he had kept the embryos they had frozen while together and wanted to use them but needed her permission, as she was the other parent of the embryo.

Rhona was left floored as she believed the embryos had been destroyed and after meeting Lucy, contemplated letting them use the embryos before changing her mind. However, things took a dramatic turn last month when Rhona discovered that Lucy was heavily pregnant and Gus had used their embryos without Rhona’s consent, even stealing the latter’s passport to forge documents and fake her consent.

Things took another devastating turn when Rhona confronted the pair with Lucy going into labour early. Later, in the hospital, it was revealed that Lucy had died while giving birth due to complications and the baby girl, Ivy, was in intensive care. Rhona has been struggling with the aftermath and on Tuesday’s episode it was revealed that she had been secretly visiting Ivy in hospital.

Rhona’s mother, Mary Goskirk, was shocked to learn Rhona had been secretly visiting Ivy in hospital and rumbled her whereabouts after a throwaway comment from Nicky Milligan. Heading to the hospital, Mary confronted Rhona before the duo were approached by Gus, who was arriving to taking Ivy home.

A furious Gus warned: “Have you been sneaking around trying to visit my daughter? You’re the woman the nurse told me about yesterday. Of course she’s okay, I’m looking after her, aren’t I? Or you don’t think I’m capable of that…” He added: “If you don’t stop harassing us, I will call the police don’t think I won’t!”

Viewers were quick to slam “hypocrite” Gus, pointing out that he stole Rhona’s embryos and passport without her consent, as well as the fact she is the biological mother of Ivy. Taking to Twitter, now X, viewers shared their anger. “Yeah Gus. Call the police. Explain how you dead Mrs got pregnant with Rhona’s kid #emmerdale,” one wrote. A second added: “Gus should be a bit more understanding, it was Rhona’s eggs he stole after all… #emmerdale.” A third shared: “Why doesn’t Rhona call the police? Grieving or not, Gus has committed fraud. That baby is half hers. #Emmerdale,” with a fourth penning: “Has Gus conveniently forgotten he forged Rhona’s signature and stole embryos? Why doesn’t Rhona just shop him if she wants the baby. #emmerdale.”

Later, things went from bad to worse for Rhona as husband Marlon Dingle got suspicious, especially after she missed their son Leo’s school play. Wanting no secrets, Mary soon blurted out the truth, leaving Marlon furious and concerned for his own family. Realising the impact it was having on her family, Mary told Rhona: “You’ve got to let this go, Rhona, let Ivy go…” but Rhona insisted that she can’t abandon her biological daughter and she won’t.
