Terrified Toyah targeted by a stalker in Coronation Street and there is much worse to come
Rowan’s actions have gone too far
Toyah Habeeb’s (Georgia Taylor) run in with The Institute has taken a terrifying turn in Coronation Street.
Viewers of the ITV soap have watched in horror as she found herself on the wrong side of the sinister cult that sister Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) has become entrapped in over recent months.
In response to her social media posts enquiring for information, Institute seminar leader Rowan Cunliffe (Emrhys Cooper) decided to launch an injunction and defamation case against her, even going as far as reporting her to the police for concealing the death of her stillborn daughter 23 years ago.
Headstrong Toyah then decided to represent herself in court.
Rowan’s actions have gone too far
The situation has caused a rift between the sisters, and we saw Leanne storm out of the flat earlier this week – leading to a kiss between Toyah and Nick Tilsley (Ben Price).
In tonight’s (12th June) episode, things remained tense between the two, who were adamant that it was a mistake. Leanne then returned home with her tail between her legs and Nick began to question whether she and Rowan were having an affair.
She told him that under no circumstances could their relationship continue if that was the case… awkward.
After breakfast, on the way to the bistro to work a short shift before the court hearing, Toyah noticed a man watching from afar but brushed it off as a coincidence.
Elsewhere, Leanne was whisked off on the back of Rowan’s motorbike to a cafe where he was introduced to The Institute’s CEO Willow, who was quick to congratulate her on being promoted to level 5, meaning she can now start recruiting members herself.
This can surely only end badly!
Suddenly, news reached Toyah that Leanne had been whisked into hospital after being injured in a motorbike accident. However, it turned out to be a nasty hoax to prevent her arriving at court in time, with Rowan relishing in his victory when the injunction was served in her absence.
As another row erupted, a police officer arrived and broke the news that her baby’s body had been released for burial. Unsure of how to Toyah would be able to afford both the £15k court fees plus the funeral costs, Nick ordered Leanne to convince Rowan to back down.
Clearly scheming, he told them that he was prepared to drop the lawsuit as long as she signed a non-disclosure agreement.
Toyah was unsure whether to proceed… until she noticed the man watching her in the car again.
Is her life going to be at risk?
