Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) reveals some news to Abi Webster (Sally Carman) about her new job in Coronation Street soon, and it leaves her horrified.
Bethany returned at the start of this year after spending time in London as a journalist. It was then revealed she had actually lost her job in the big city and needed to find new work.
Most recently after the drama involving abuser Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper), she faced a huge problem after redirecting the rest of her mail from London to Manchester. To her surprise, Bethany discovered that someone had been fraudulently using her old company credit card.
In upcoming episodes there’s good news for Bethany as she tells Sarah (Tina O’Brien) she’s got her new job, but it’s quickly followed by a feeling of dread as she tells her mum she isn’t looking forward to her first assignment.
She’s dreading it
Calling at the garage, Bethany tells Abi that she now works for a magazine company and they want her to write an article in support of Corey Brent, the teenager who killed her son Seb.
Later in the week, Abi tells Kevin (Michael Le Vell) that she’s done some digging and has worked out Stefan, Corey’s dad, owns the magazine company Bethany is working for, and is also a board director of the production company that made Corey’s documentary.
Convinced Stefan is behind the deepfake videos, Abi and Kevin report him to the police.
At the garage, Bethany pops by and tells Abi that she’ll quit her job if it’s what she wants, but it could be useful to have someone on the inside to keep tabs on Stefan.
Kevin then pays a visit to Bethany and tells her that if she really wants to help, she can lend him her security pass to Stefan’s offices.
Bethany hands it over, but will this be a move she regrets?
