EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick breaks silence on dating rumours
"There is no lady on the scene at the minute."
EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick has officially set the record straight with regards to recent dating rumours.
The actor, who plays Jay Brown on the soap, has dismissed speculation that he is dating former co-star Danielle Harold — who notably played his on-screen wife Lola Pearce-Brown.
Speaking to The Mirror ahead of his festive Strictly Come Dancing appearance, Jamie revealed that despite rumours surrounding his relationships with Danielle and co-star Jazzy Phoenix, they are firm friends.
“They linked me with Jazzy and they linked me with Danielle. I’m just surprised they haven’t linked me with [Strictly professional partner] Nancy [Xu]!” he said.
“There is no lady on the scene at the minute, I’m just enjoying the quiet life.”
The actor went on to share how well he got on with Jazzy, who recently joined the Square as sex worker Nadine Keller.
“We got on like a house on fire. Like brother and sister,” he explained. “Nadine left a bit sudden, but as quick as they leave, they come back!”
The soap star will take to the iconic ballroom on Christmas Day (December 25) alongside a host of famous faces, in a bid to become the Christmas Champion.
Joining Jamie for the festive Strictly special are BBC Breakfast presenter Sally Nugent, historian Dan Snow, Waterloo Road actress Tillie Amartey, rugby player Danny Cipriani and Sugababes singer Keisha Buchanan.
Following the cast announcement for the Christmas episode, Jamie revealed how excited he was to be swapping the East End for Elstree.
“I am so excited to be joining the cast of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special. From Walford to a Waltz, I can’t wait to learn a new skill and put my dancing to the test. I’m hoping to spread Christmas cheer and have a good laugh with my professional dancer… get me on that dance floor!” he said.
