‘The most painful thing’: EastEnders’ Linda Carter hit with terrible Mick blow

Linda is struggling without Mick

Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) is set to struggle in upcoming EastEnders episodes as Father’s Day approaches, leaving her mourning soulmate Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) even more than usual.

Mick was presumed dead after going missing at sea on Christmas Day in 2022, having jumped in to save Linda.

While Linda managed to get out alive, Mick hasn’t been seen since, leaving her with painful questions about what could have happened to him.

Over the months that have followed, Linda has had some really difficult days. Most recently she struggled during Whitney Dean and Zack Hudson’s (Shona McGarty and James Farrar) sten do at the Vic, having been reminded of happy times with Mick.

In upcoming scenes, it is Father’s Day that leaves her upset, as she mourns the father of her children.

‘I think any day that reminds her of Mick is a difficult day. She’s still got a very young son who remembers his dad, and wants to talk about his dad, and wants to make his dad a Father’s Day card and in addition to that, she’s still drinking so her ability to cope with those emotional things is on the floor,’ actress Kellie Bright explained.

‘She’s not in a strong mental place so she is finding it hard. She’s finding it hard to answer Ollie’s questions and I don’t think she wants to think about it. Everything for her is too painful at the minute so she just wants to shut it away.’

Linda has been through an awful lot in the year and a half since Mick’s ‘death’, with the return of rapist Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo), the Knight family moving into the Vic and the death of Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters).

However, it is still Mick’s death that Linda has struggled with the most, as Kellie revealed.

‘I think it’s the most painful thing for her. I think she has felt his loss more than ever since Christmas because I think she probably goes back in her head and thinks “if Mick had been here, none of this would have happened” or “if Mick was here, he would know what to do”.

‘I just think she thinks that everything would be better if he was still here, so that’s the most painful thing.’

In a bid to help Linda cope, Elaine Peacock and Johnny Carter (Harriet Thorpe and Charlie Suff) decide to organise a Father’s Day event in the Vic – but will it work?
