Brutal Cindy savages Lauren in bitter showdown in EastEnders

Cindy can’t hold back

Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) can’t stop herself from lashing out at Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) in EastEnders next week.

This is, of course, because her son Peter (Thomas Law) looks set to reunite with Lauren after their breakup last year.

The couple first got together as teens, and in 2015 welcomed their son Louie.

However, last year any hopes of a reconciliation seemed to be out the window when she discovered that Cindy was still alive – despite being ‘dead’ since 1998 – and he’d kept it a secret.

Cindy can’t hold back

Cindy had spent a number of years living in witness protection, and had assumed a new identity under the pseudonym Rose Knight. After learning it was safe for her to return to her everyday life, she made her way back to Walford in summer last year.

Lauren was horrified that Peter had kept such a huge revelation from her, and decided that she could no longer trust him.

After months apart, the pair talked about giving things another go, but ultimately decided that they weren’t the right fit and would only be trying to make it work for Louie’s sake.

Peter was devastated, but has proved to be a much-needed shoulder to cry on in the last week as her affair with Zack Hudson (James Farrar) was exposed at his wedding to Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty).

Could something be stirring between the two?

In upcoming scenes, Lauren continues to be ostracised from her neighbours, with Cindy being one of the first to chip in and offer a dose of spiteful comments.

After all, after losing daughter Lucy, absolutely nothing or nobody will be good enough for Peter.

Peter is keen to support Lauren, and the two spend the evening together – but the next morning her presence isn’t well received.

Cindy continues with her act of hostility and upsets Peter with her rudeness, forcing him to threaten to move out if she can’t be civil with her grandson’s mother.

Later, Lauren thanks Peter for being there for her during the difficult week, but is she unintentionally leading him on?
