Emmerdale vicar Charles Anderson betrays son Ethan in a shocking twist
THE vicar was forced into an impossible situation
EMMERDALE’S Charle Anderson has betrayed his son Ethan in shocking scenes tonight.
The vicar – who is played by actor Kevin Mathurin in the ITV soap – discovered how Ethan had been driving the car when it crashed leaving Nicky Miligan in a coma.
And he was horrified when his son confessed to moving Nicky to frame him for driving.
Ethan tried to speak to his dad earlier in the episode but got interrupted by his grandmother and Manpreet.
“It’s not about the job,” Ethan said after approaching his dad in the church.
“I couldn’t, not with grandma and Manpreet there. I’m afraid you’ll hate me. You don’t know what I’ve done.
“Nicky… he wasn’t the one that was driving the car. I was.”
Charles was horrified but told Ethan that they could sort it by approaching the police first and explaining.
However that wasn’t what Ethan had in mind – instead he had a shock proposal for his vicar dad.
“Dad that’s not what I’ve come to you for,” he said.
“The police know someone else was driving the car so it’s only a matter of time before they work out it was me. It would kill my career.
“I would lose everything. I’m sorry but I can’t, which is why when the police come I’m going to need an alibi.
“Someone who can convince them that it couldn’t have been me, and I need it to be you.”
Ethan thought he had got through to his dad but Charles was horrified at Ethan’s lack of empathy for Nicky and his family.
So he made a shocking decision – and called the police himself.
As they walked in, Ethan broke down – but only terrified for himself – and as he was led out of the cottage, Ruby and Moira walked by.
Ruby immediately realised what was going on and screamed that she hopes he rots in hell.
But has Charles made a huge mistake?
