The Football Factory was first released in 2004 and told the story of Danny’s character Tommy Johnson, as well as his football fanatic friends.

While known for indulging in violence and drugs, when a fight with a rival team spirals out of control, they decide to change their lifestyle.

As well as Danny, the movie stars Frank Harper, Tamer Hassan, Tony Denham, Roland Manookian, and Neil Maskell.

Alas, the film wasn’t a roaring success and received a flurry of negative reviews, landing 38% on Rotton Tomatoes with an average rating of 4.70/10.

Despite that, though, a sequel has been green-lit, with Danny reprising his role of Tommy.

Danny became a free agent following his departure from EastEnders.

Danny left the show in tragic fashion during the 2022 Christmas Day special when his character, Mick Carter, was killed off after jumping into the English channel in an attempt to save on-screen wife Linda Carter (Kellie Bright).
