EastEnders fans left screaming at the screen by Callum Highway police blunder as Nadine Keller’s lies finally exposed
Viewers seemed to slam the writing as the encounter did not make sense to them
EastEnders fans were left screaming at the screen by Callum Highway’s apparent police blunder.
Last night’s episode saw Nadine Keller’s baby lies finally exposed to Jay in The Queen Vic.
Fans of EastEnders recently learnt that Nadine (played by Jazzy Phoenix) was tricking Jay Brown (played by Jamie Borthwick) as she faked her pregnancy.
Newcomer Stevie Mitchell (played by Alan Ford) – the estranged father of Billy Mitchell – arrived on the square unexpectedly.
He confronted her after seeing her readjust her fake bump and he caught her handing over the money Jay gave her for a ‘flat deposit; to a girl called Olivia.
Nadine then gave him a pile of cash as hush money to try and keep her secret on the down low.
He then attended a family gathering at the pub organised by great-great-granddaughter Lexi where they tried to make him leave.
Although he accepted the money, he was not going to keep quiet as he decided to expose her to win over the trust of the family.
He exclaimed: “I’m not the only villain in here, no, I’m not the worst villain here, she is… she’s offered me money to keep quiet about it but I didn’t come back here for money.
He added: “I came back here for family and she ain’t it!”
This was as he exposed the fake bump by prodding her abdomen with his walking stick, much to the horror of the Mitchell clan.
Thursday’s episode showed the immediate aftermath which included an appalled Callum Highway (played by Tony Clay).
He simply exclaimed: “Are you having a laugh?”
Nadine protested her actions as she insisted it was ‘not what it looks like!”
Phil Mitchell (played by Steve McFadden) quickly retorted as he loudly noted: “Not what it looks like? He’s holding your fake baby!”
However, fans were bemused by Callum’s actions, or rather lack thereof.
They took to X – formerly known as Twitter – as they noted that he’s a police officer and they were surprised he didn’t arrest Nadine on the spot.
One viewer asked: “All Callum had to say was are you having a laugh. Why didn’t he arrest Nadine for committing fraud to take money from Jay? #EastEnders.”
As a second enquired: “Why didn’t Callum arrest Nadine? #Eastenders.”
“Hate to be that guy but WHY DIDN’T YOU ARREST HER, OFFICER HIGHWAY?! SHE JUST DEFRAUDED YOUR BEST MATE IN FRONT OF YA!,” fumed a third fan.
As a fourth user wondered: “Why didn’t Callum arrest Nadine right there if fraud is a crime? #Eastenders”
This was as a fifth watcher sarcastically joked: “Is Callum on leave from his job as a detective? #Eastenders”
And a sixth added: “That’s right Callum, tell her again if she’s having a laugh. #EastEnders.”
