EastEnders fans are making a heartbreaking realisation about Callum and it’s gone down badly

EastEnders fans have been left furious by a realisation that Callum Highway (Tony Clay) has moved on from his criminal husband Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden).

Ben was extradited to the US last month after being charged with credit card fraud and has since been sent down for six years.

The two were wed in 2021, and their marriage was turbulent with Ben involved in an horrific male rape story, and later diagnosed with an eating disorder.

Fans of the character and his on-screen hubby, collectively known as Ballum, had hoped for them both to have a happy ending, but this didn’t happen.

The two shared a sweet final scene when police officer Callum told Ben that he would wait for him whilst he was locked up, despite being resentful of his actions.

However, judging by an Instagram post shared by the BBC soap yesterday (30th April), he’s already moved on.

‘A perfect moment captured in The Vic…’ they captioned a picture of Tony, alongside his co-star Martin Fowler (James Bye) in the show’s famed Queen Vic set.

Followers were quick to pick up on the fact Tony wasn’t wearing Callum’s wedding ring, suggesting that he may have decided to call time on his relationship.

‘Where is Callum’s wedding ring?’ asked one.

The question was immediately followed by a hilarious response: ‘In the Thames.’

‘Ben’s not been gone long and Callum has already jumped into Martin’s bed’ jokingly commented another.

Someone suggested that the picture wasn’t of the actors in character as their alter egos: ‘It’s probably behind the scenes, as Martin and Callum don’t usually interact. It’s likely this is Tony, rather than Callum.’

Earlier this month, the soap’s social media team fuelled speculation that Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff) could soon make his move the Walford copper.

The two characters have shared quite a few scenes together since he returned to Albert Square earlier this year and fell straight into the drama surrounding The Six’s murder of Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters).

Could the two men be looking for a shoulder to cry on amid their woes?

In another Insta upload on 10th April, it was teased that the two may be getting closer in upcoming scenes, or at least keeping something secret!

‘What’s going on here?!’ they wrote to their 791,000 followers, alongside a pic of Tony and Charlie (who has his finger over his lips).
