Emmerdale’s Kim Tate stopped from getting to the hospital on time – and devastating news follows
The one time there’s traffic in the village!
There’s some terrible news for the residents of Home Farm in upcoming episodes of Emmerdale, when Dawn Fletcher (Olivia Bromley) notices bruising on her baby son Evan’s leg.
She calls GP Liam (Jonny McPherson), who tells her to take the baby straight to A&E.
Evan is examined by a paediatrician who does a blood test, and breaks the news to Dawn and Billy (Jay Kontzle) that Evan is very sick.
More tests follow and Dawn and Billy are left feeling helpless as their little boy has to undergo a bone marrow biopsy because he has low haemoglobin and platelet levels. Dawn isn’t even able to feed her baby to comfort him because he has to be nil by mouth.
The one time there’s traffic in the village!
A devastated Billy returns home and tells Will (Dean Andrews) and Kim (Claire King) that Evan could be suffering from an infection, an autoimmune disorder or even leukaemia.
Obviously Will and Kim’s first impulse is to get to the hospital to see their grandson and support Dawn.
Traffic around Emmerdale isn’t usually a problem apart from the occasional tractor so the journey shouldn’t be a tricky one – but it’s not long before their progress is brought to a halt.
The blockage is caused by Moira Barton (Natalie J. Robb) and Ruby Fox-Milligan (Beth Cordingly), having a roadside row after Moira drove past Ruby and splashed mud on her.
When they were later driving along the same lane towards each other, both women refused to give way to the other, causing a stalemate.
An exasperated Will explains that he and Kim need to get to the hospital urgently and the situation is resolved – though Ruby is still fuming.
Will and Kim head for the hospital where Will tries to comfort his daughter as Evan is taken for his biopsy.
When the results come back it’s the worst possible news. The bone marrow biopsy has revealed that Evan has a form of leukaemia. Kim and Will feel helpless as Dawn’s world is shattered and she breaks down.
